Riga Technical University (RTU) is the oldest and largest by number of the students’ higher education institution in Latvia. It was founded in 1862. The university is situated in the historical center of Riga, on Ķīpsala Island. By Impact Rankings 2020, Riga Technical University is ranked as the best higher education establishment in Latvia.
Study at RTU
Riga Technical University offers more than 56 officially accredited academic and professional bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate programmes in engineering, social sciences and humanities. Each year its’ nine faculties educate and train more than 15,000 students (including over 1,500 foreign students under the auspice of Erasmus programme).

Kipsala dormitory Azenes 6 or 8, Riga, LV-1048map
The dormitory is located at different blocks of the 9-story or 11-storey buildings. It is situated on Ķīpsala campus and at a close distance from faculty buildings, city center and large shopping mall. There is a “back yard” in the dormitory. The “back yard” is a field covered by grass and it is great to release stress, relax and make every physical activity more enjoyable.
The apartments include three or four double rooms, kitchen, bathroom, toilet and hallway. All rooms are air-conditioned.
Cost of stay
The cost of rent in the dormitory depends on the number of people staying in the room and additional service fees which is included in the rent. For example, the cost of shared accommodation in double room is varied from 158 to 189 EUR/month.
How do you reach Kipsala dormitory?
You can reach dormitory from the main building of RTU (Kalku street) by trolleybus No. 9. You have to get on the stop called “Grecinieku str.” and get off on the stop called “Kipsala”.
Olaines dormitory Olaines str. 4, Riga, LV-1055map
The dormitory is located at 5-storey building. There are 26 rooms at each floor of the dormitory. All rooms are double shared and situated along the corridor. Kitchens and toilets are at the ends of corridor. There are bathrooms on the basement of the building. The novuss table, some exercise equipment and table tennis are set up in a common area of the dormitory.

How do you reach Olaines dormitory?
To get Kipsala campus take on the tram No. 5 and ride up to the tram stop called “Martina str.”. Or take bus No. 13 and ride up to the bus stop called “Kipsala”. Then walk a few minutes up to the campus.
RTU dormitories offer mini-kitchen, toilet and shower, self-service laundry facility. Some hostels are equipped with a small gym facility.

What services are offered for extra charge?
For extra charge tenants can use washing machines, vacuum cleaner, invite a guest (no more than 7 times per month if other tenants of the room and block are agreed).
